As The World Spins Madly On

 

This installation of nine mixed media paintings (encaustic, photography, and oil) is about the environment, climate change and the effect they have on the bird population. I think about Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring and what it means to have a “silent morning.” I cannot imagine anything sadder.

When viewing this piece one can view it two ways. Viewed from bottom to top, we see the bird and its environment fading away, viewed from top to bottom we see a bright healthy bird in a thriving environment.
